Rugged ABYC Marine Systems Certification

Longshore Boats is pleased to announce that Nick Mahorney recently completed the Marine Systems Certification Program offered by the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC). ABYC has been developing, writing and updating the safety standards for boatbuilding and repair in the United States for over 50 years. Having completed the week long training, testing and certification process, Nick is now one of a growing group of certified specialists in the country whose commitment to excellence means better customer service for the recreational boater. "At Longshore Boats, we believe that enrolling our marine technicians in ABYC's training programs will help increase the quality of our customers' boating experience," says Chris Meredith. "But, what it really takes is the commitment of our employees to be able to advance their own knowledge by attending the ABYC program. We're proud of Nick and what this means for Longshore Boats." ABYC's Marine Technician Certification Program is a continuing education program, based on ABYC's marine industry safety standards. "What we offer is a comprehensive course of study and a challenging certification test," says Skip Burdon, ABYC's President. "When someone like Nick completes the process and becomes certified, he or she can feel confident in their ability to apply ABYC standards as a tool for initial installation or for troubleshooting problems."

Edgewater Boats: Enters Wide-Beam 30-Plus Cabin Boat Market

Known as a premier builder of family-oriented center consoles and crossover models, EdgeWater Power Boats officially enters the wide-beam 30-plus express cabin boat market with its all-new 335 Express at the 2009 Miami International Boat Show. Designed to run and perform with twin engines only, the 335 Express can be equipped twin Yamaha F250 or F350 four-stroke outboards for reliable, fuel-efficient power.

The 335 Express features an optional electronics suite from Garmin Electronics comprised of a 15" GPSMAP touchscreen chartplotter, GSD 22 remote sounder module, B164 1K transducer, GMR 24 high-def radar, GDL 30A XM satellite weather/audio and GHP 10 autopilot. Greg DeVries, Garmin's director of marine sales and marketing, said, "Our easy-to-read displays, high-definition radar and autopilot system with Shadow Drive technology provide the ideal combination of safety, quality, value, innovation and ease of operation." With EdgeWater's proprietary SPI (Single Piece Infusion) construction process, Vinylester resin is vacuum infused into our Penske XtremeŽ grid structures and the hull laminate in one step. By infusing them together, resin molecules in the grid harden at the exact same time as the resin in the fiberglass laminate making it bond as one piece. SPI achieves a strength-to-weight ratio greater than open molded, polyester boats, according to laboratory test results provided by Owens Corning. When combined with the sea keeping ability of our variable deadrise deep-V hulls, SPI technology produces handling, performance, fuel efficiency and range better than other production boats of the same size, length and power Contact Longshore Boats for more information!
