Boat Transport Specialist
(Full-Time Position)


Longshore Boats is a leading provider of premium boats and service catering to passionate boating enthusiasts. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and offering a diverse range of high-quality watercraft, service, and support. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Logistics Specialist and help us provide our customers with the opportunity to escape, recreate and share their love of boating!

Corn hole and ping-pong skills are not required, but may come in handy at our company tournaments! And did we mention the oyster roasts and boat outing weekends?

Job Summary:
The Boat Transport Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our boat dealership. This position involves managing the movement of boats, trailers and equipment within the dealership, to local marinas, and customers in the area. The ideal candidate will be detail orientated, communicate effectively with team members to ensure a seamless workflow, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently transport boats, trailers, and materials within the dealership and surrounding area using forklifts, tractors, pallet jacks, and other equipment.  Ensure all staging is in the right place at the right time with zero loss time to customers or staff.
  • Launch boats to/from trailers/dock locations.
  • Maintain inventory of trailers and equipment to ensure availability for boat and yard movements.  Maintain current inventory documentation
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Report maintenance issues on company equipment or trailers so they can be corrected immediately.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of boats for customer purchases, pickups, and deliveries.
  • Service/Storage lot organization: Keep the facilities clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. Optimize storage space and implement efficient lot layouts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with sales, service, and administrative teams to fulfill movement requests and support day-to-day operations.
  • Training and Development: Facilitate ongoing training and development programs for service department staff to keep them abreast of the latest technologies and industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure a seamless workflow.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in loading/un-loading boats from trailers to the water as well as lifting boats from flatbed trucks and loading on trailers is a must.
  • Proficiency in operating equipment such as forklifts, yard tractors and lifting equipment preferred
  • Experience in boat handling and trailering operations required.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • Desire for continual learning

Yard Assistant
(Full-Time Position)

 

This role is perfect for those who love the water, enjoy working outdoors, and are eager to grow their skills in the boating industry. As a part of the Yard Personnel at Longshore Boats, you’ll be an essential part of our service team, ensuring all boats in our care are maintained to the highest standards and are ready for adventure. 

This position can be a stepping stone to detailing, gel coat and fiberglass work,  marina experience, technician certification, dockhand or deckhand positions, customer service, captain's license, and so much more.

For over 30 years, Longshore Boats has been a cornerstone in the Charleston boating community, providing unforgettable experiences on the water. As a locally owned boat dealership, we are passionate about helping people escape, recreate, and share their love of boating. We are currently expanding our team and looking for motivated individuals to join us in our yard and service department. Key Tasks:

  • Safely transport/move boats on trailers using forklifts and/or tractors

  • Keep boats well organized in the lot for efficient and timely movement

  • Thoroughly wash and/or detail boats in a timely manner

  • Assist with check-in of new boats delivered to the dealership

  • Keep work areas and equipment clean and organized

  • Assist with setup of boat shows

  • Other tasks as assigned by management

Required Skills:

  • Positive attitude and desire to learn

  • Attention to detail

  • Organizational skills

  • Ability to work efficiently and manage time unsupervised

  • Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity

  • Collaborative attitude

  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions

  • Forklift and trailering experience is not required, but a plus

  • Boating experience is required
